Writing

Debbie has been writing since 4th Grade, when she wrote her first poem about the color of her bedroom (red). Over the decades, Debbie was the editor of her high school and college literary magazines, the arts and features editor of her college newspaper, and the managing editor of Cableview Magazine and Rockbill Magazine in the 1980s. In the early aughts, Debbie started writing for Print Magazine and in 2016 she was appointed editorial director of the publication. She remained in the position until the publishers ceased printing the paper edition. When the publishers went bankrupt in 2019, a group of like-minded Print advocates, including Debbie and her mentor Steven Heller, acquired the assets and the 70-year archive and began publishing PrintMag.com shortly thereafter.

Debbie has also written consistently for Fast Company and contributed to publications including The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Afar Magazine, and many more. In addition, Debbie has been invited to write forewords and contribute essays or cover blurbs to numerous books about design and branding.
